Why Spotify links don't work for Apple Music users

A Spotify link carries Spotify's internal track ID. Apple Music has no idea what that ID means; its catalog uses completely different references. So when an Apple Music user taps your Spotify link, their phone opens a Spotify web preview or an App Store prompt instead of the song.

JamShare fixes this with catalog matching: it recognizes the track through Spotify's data, looks up the same song on Apple Music and the other major services, and wraps everything in one link. Each recipient lands in their own app.

What converts and what can't

Songs and albums convert most reliably, because titles, artists, and album metadata are consistent across platforms. Playlist sharing supports Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, Tidal, and Apple Music.

One honest caveat: catalogs aren't identical. If a track is a Spotify exclusive or isn't licensed in the recipient's country, no converter can produce an Apple Music link for it, because the song simply doesn't exist there. For major releases this is rare.

Works in both directions, and beyond music

The same flow converts Apple Music links to Spotify, and JamShare also converts map links across Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze. A song for the drive and the address you're driving to can travel in the same kind of link.

FAQ

How do I convert a Spotify link to Apple Music?

Share the song from Spotify, choose JamShare in the share sheet (or paste the link into JamShare on the web), and send the JamShare link. Your Apple Music friend opens the same track in Apple Music without searching for it or creating an account.

Does the recipient need JamShare installed?

No. The JamShare link opens for anyone. Recipients pick their music app the first time, and they can set a default so future links open straight in Apple Music.

Can I convert Spotify playlists and albums to Apple Music links?

Yes. JamShare supports albums, and playlist sharing supports Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, Tidal, and Apple Music. Some tracks in a playlist may be unavailable on the recipient's service due to catalog differences.

Why doesn't my Spotify link open for Apple Music users in the first place?

A Spotify link contains Spotify's internal track ID, which Apple Music can't read. The recipient's phone either opens Spotify (which they may not have) or a web preview. A universal link fixes this by matching the track across catalogs and routing each person to their own app.

Is the Spotify to Apple Music converter free?

Yes. JamShare currently offers free music and location sharing, on iOS, Android, and the web.
